Merlin is without doubt one of the UK's leading marketers, with
a long track record in consultancy and research projects.
These have included customer management assessments for banks and
insurance companies, as well as for suppliers of financial services
systems. He is a prolific author, writing many reports on financial
services issues, particularly in relation to savings, pensions,
long-term investments and distribution.
In 2003, the UK's Chartered Institute of Marketing listed him as
one of the world's top 50 marketing thinkers, and a Precision
Marketing readership poll also nominated him as one of the 20 most
influential people in the direct marketing industry. Other
citations include a NOP World nomination in 2004 as one of 100 most
influential individuals for their input and influence on the
development and growth of e-commerce and the internet in the UK
over the previous 10 years.
He has authored or co-authored many articles and some thirty
books on customer management, including "CRM in Financial Services"
and "Key Account Management in Financial Services". He is a Fellow
of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and an Honorary Life
Fellow of the UK's Institute of Direct Marketing. He is also on the
editorial advisory boards of several academic journals, including
the Journal of Financial Services Marketing, and writes for several
trade publications. Merlin is also a senior advisor at The
Clear Cell Group, which helps its clients manage loyalty schemes
and create insight-driven businesses.
